Sweet Heat has a new release this February with TYPE3, who reworked Walt J's disco-house single, "Mista". Two incredible Vegas-based producers, one new and improved, unique sound. Sweet Heat Records is excited to release this track and share a moment in history with these creatives. While those who follow us know all about Sweet Heat Alumn, Walt J, today we will be learning more about TYPE3.
Music has been part of TYPE3's life since middle school, starting with the Spanish songs his parents played around the house. By the end of those formative years, punk, rap, and most importantly, dance music made its way into his life. Just like that, a lifelong love for the sound began. When it comes to music, TYPE3's taste is all about the big energy. For influences, in no particular order, TYPE3 mentions his liking for Robbie Rivera, Eric Prydz, Tommy Trash, Mark Knight, and legend, Carl Cox. Some of TYPE3's favorite DJ sets includes Carl Cox b2b Green Velvet (at either EDC 2014 or 2015, a blur to all of us I'm sure) and Tommy Trash's EDC 2014 set. The highlights weren't just the music; it was being there with friends and soaking it all in. That feeling, he adds, can’t be beaten. That is what music is all about!
TYPE3's creative process is all about rhythm first. Drums and bassline is his foundation. Once an 8-bar idea clicks, he lets it sit overnight, giving it space to breathe, before adding all the "ear candy" details that will make his song pop. After that, it almost writes itself. When asked about the Vegas scene, he states, "Vegas has an immense amount of talented producers. Back when I first started, there were only a handful of real producers putting on for the city. Seeing the scene blossoming and forming its own identity has been awesome. I feel blessed to be a part of that early wave."
Now let's talk about "Mista - TYPE3 Remix". TYPE3 considers remixes to be a “non-canon,” which makes it easier to step outside his usual sound. Walt J’s original track was already strong, so the goal was to add his own flavor to it, while keeping the vibe intact. He hopes that is what listeners take away from the remix as well. We hear the TYPE3 groovy bassline addition, and we like it.
TYPE3's goal at the moment is to keep making music and building his audience. He's taken some time to slow down on producing recently, but he's back and ready to work and keep releasing tunes. We are stoked about that too. So what keeps TYPE3's going in the music world? It’s simple: love and support. “I’ve stayed in it for over a decade because I love it and I have a great support system,” he says. Family, friends, and followers have been behind him even during his hiatus. He loves making music for them and for the craft itself. His advice to anyone just starting out or feeling discouraged is: “As cliché as it sounds, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Staying in the game and improving every day is essential. It’s like a muscle you have to work on every day to stay sharp. That’s how you stay consistent and build goodwill with your fanbase.” Sweet Heat is proud to feature TYPE3's “MISTA” remix in our catelog of diverse tracjs. The track is out everywhere on Friday, February 27.
